Dr. Charlotte Andrews and Myles Darrell of the Bermuda National Trust join The Daily Hour to discuss the Community Listening Project, an initiative designed to hear directly from residents about Bermuda’s natural and cultural heritage, the work of the National Trust, and what people value most about the island.
The project comes as the Bermuda National Trust begins developing its next strategic plan, with feedback from the community intended to help shape its priorities for the future. Importantly, the Trust wants to hear not only from its traditional supporters, but also younger Bermudians and people who may never have engaged with the organization before.
We discuss what heritage really means beyond historic buildings and protected spaces. It can include our stories, traditions, culture, natural environment and the places that hold personal meaning. We’ll also explore why listening to a broader cross-section of Bermuda matters when deciding what should be protected and preserved for future generations.
